Shu Uemura’s international artistic director was the makeup artist behind the “Hyper Fresh” colour-makeup shoot on page 156.“The theme was ‘colour pop’,” Uchiide-san says. “i was inspired by the Shu Uemura X Takashi Murakami [Shu Murakami] collection.we played with Tokyo-ness and lively colour as we merged high culture with pop culture in an imaginative but wearable way for summer.” The key products I used for the shoot were … “from the Shu Uemura X Takashi Murakami collection: the Cosmic Blossom Eye & Cheek Palette and our Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shine”. My advice for incorporating a pop of colour into a summer makeup look would be to … “focus on one key feature at a time — say, the lips, while keeping the others simple. I would also say pick one key shade and work with that palette. Choose complementary colours — this makes it wearable — using colour in this way to look cool, not crazy.” The best way to protect your skin in summer is … “SPF! Incorporate it into your makeup with a protective primer like our Block :booster. Hydration is also important, so get this through your products to keep your skin feeling and looking healthy.”
