TRENDING NOW The English aristo aesthetic.

An English aristo aesthetic ruled at a rainy fashion week

CHECKS, tweeds, ladylike handbags and quilted jackets all sound like the perfect accompaniments for a weekend away in the English countryside. Instead, they became the uniform for many fashion week attendees at the A/W 2017 shows. Perhaps the current Princess Diana exhibition at Kensington Palace in London has inspired a new appreciation for early ’80s Sloane Ranger chic (just add pie-crust-collar blouses to the clothing items above). Or maybe the incessant rain at Paris fashion week simply forced everyone to wear their most sensible, weather-defying wardrobe items. Either way, the end result was a street style scene that looked far more determined than decadent. – Clare Maclean
