TRENDING NOW

The cargos trend is Noughties but nice

Cargo pants and utilitarian pockets are back.

Nothing says ‘the Noughties are back’ quite like the return of cargo pants and patch-pocket outerwear in general. Or the appearance of Kylie Minogue (who made cargo pants so ubiquitous thanks to the video for her 2002 hit Love at First Sight) at the Stella Mccartney show during Paris fashion week. Many a S/S 2018 showgoer took a leaf out of the early-noughties Kylie style book by pairing cargos with pointed pumps. Others opted to give utilitarian trousers and flak jackets an artistic twist with contrasting bright prints, or played to a minimalist aesthetic by styling tonal patch-pocket coats with matching accessories. – Clare Maclean
