Aerin Lauder, founder of AERIN Beauty, a leading partner in BAZAAR in Bloom, talks about the fascinating beauty of femininity

To say Aerin Lauder has spent a lifetime contemplating what makes women tick would not be an exaggeration. She is, of course, the helmswoman of an eponymous lifestyle and beauty brand, and the granddaughter of cosmetics pioneer Estée Lauder — who first turned the celebration of femininity into a daily beauty ritual. While the AERIN Beauty and Estée elements of Lauder’s family business are radically different, the truth is, connecting with women is in her DNA.

Ask her for whom she’s designing her homewares, accessories and fragrances, and Lauder’s answer is simple: the woman of 2017. “[The AERIN woman is] feminine, strong and sophisticated — inspired by creativity, craftsmanship, rich storytelling and authenticity,” she says. Unlike her late grandmother’s traditional notion of feminine beauty, there’s no mention of heels, impeccable hair or ‘ladylike’ mannerisms. Lauder is all about boyfriend-style shirts, denim and bare soles. Femininity is perhaps best described as a feeling.

Femininity is also intrinsically linked to family. As a mother of two teenage boys, Lauder understands the life-changing influence that motherhood has on a woman. That’s why she

was so quick to sign on as a partner of BAZAAR in Bloom — Harper’s

In a fitting gesture, guests found products from the new AERIN Beauty Tuberose Collection inside their gift bags. The range centres on two “fascinatingly different” fragrances: Le Jour encapsulates the promise of daybreak, while Le Soir evokes the energy of nightfall. “Tuberose radiates luxurious femininity and modernity,” Lauder says. “Each fragrance has its own story and personality, yet both are grounded in love and friendship.”
