Lions pounce on Panthers
HARVEY-Brunswick-Leschenault women overcame last round’s shock loss against Harvey to defeat Carey Park at Brunswick Oval by 16 points on Sunday.
The Lionesses trailed at quarter time and half time, but rallied in the second half to eclipse the Panthers 4.11 (35) to 3.1 (19).
Kaitlyn Hoy was dominant for the home side, gathering plenty of possession around the ground in a best-onground display.
The dynamic midfielder provided run-and-carry which allowed Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault to stream forward and have regular inside 50 entries.
Claudia Porritt was also lively for the Lionesses, as was Emily Robertson and speedster Montana Tate.
Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault peppered the scoreboard in the second half, but were inaccurate in front of goal – booting six behinds from eight shots.
However, Porritt ensured the victory and put the game out of the Panthers’ reach with a classy major in the final term.
Carey Park’s Jessie Gallop was influential across the entire encounter, working relentlessly for the Panthers.
Shontai Farrant and Karinda Farrant were also lively and provided spark for the visitors.
Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault will play South Bunbury at Hands Oval this Saturday, while Carey Park will host the undefeated Harvey Bulls.
