Find My Hero
A NEW initiative aims to help reconnect people with their heroes in the emergency services.
Find my Hero Australia, developed by emergency services health insurer Emergency Services Health, allows people to share stories and ask the community for help in passing the message on to the responder.
Emergency Services Health chief executive officer Michael Oertel said giving and receiving thanks had positive impacts for both people who had been helped and emergency responders.
“There is a significant amount of research which shows that being thanked makes people feel valued and aids their future performance of selfless acts,” he said.
“Gratitude is also linked to reducing depression, better sleep, improving self-esteem, and strengthening our ability to cope with adversity.”
To thank a local hero visit the Find my Hero Australia Facebook page and use the hashtag #FindmyHeroAU with your message of thanks.
