A MULTI-MILLION dollar project rolling back the salinity in Wellington Dam was knocked back for Federal funding last week.

The Myalup-Wellington Dam Project was one of two WA projects which applied for funding through the National Water Infrastructure Development Fund, after the State Government confirmed its $37 million contribution earlier this month.

Wellington Dam, containing 165gL, has a salinity level of about 1200ppm, with the project aimed at reducing that salinity by nearly half, providing potable water for the Great Southern, improving the quality and supply of water to the Collie River Valley farm region and pipe water to farms in Myalup.
