Wa­roona fall in fi­nal game

DE­SPITE a tight first quar­ter, Wa­roona fell in the fi­nal reg­u­lar sea­son game to South Man­durah by 34 points, but will have their chance for re­venge in next week’s elim­i­na­tion fi­nal.

The De­mons faced off against South Man­durah on Sun­day on Fal­con Oval, falling be­hind af­ter half time to lose 16.12 (108) to 11.8 (74).

The De­mons and the home side were even in the first quar­ter, with four goals and three points apiece.

In the sec­ond quar­ter, South Man­durah edged in front, kick­ing four goals to their op­po­nent’s two and af­ter half time, pushed that lead out, kick­ing five goals to one in the third quar­ter.

The De­mons fought back in the fi­nal quar­ter, kick­ing four goals to the home side’s three but it was not enough to catch them.

Ke­pler Bradley was the De­mons’ top goal scorer kick­ing three goals fol­lowed by Jake Wil­son and Mathew Thomas both kick­ing two.

Bray­den Sut­ton, Thomas Wil­son, Steven Cameron and Ben Wright filled out the rest of the De­mons’ score with a goal each.

In the first round of the fi­nals next week, Wa­roona will have their chance for re­venge fac­ing off again against South Man­durah, on Sun­day at 2.30pm, in the elim­i­na­tion fi­nal.

In the re­serves, South Man­durah 10.7 (67) de­feated Wa­roona 6.4 (40).

In the colts, South Man­durah 27.19 (181) de­feated Wa­roona 0.1 (1).
