Childcare centre mural turned down
HARVEY Shire Council turned down a development application for a Treendale Childcare Centre for a second time as the design was inconsistent with the amenity of the area.
The original design of the mural was a brightly coloured circus theme, including castle turrets made from water tanks, which was turned down by the council in June.
Construction of the childcare centre building, approved by the council in August 2015, is now almost complete except for internal fittings, the facade and landscaping.
A new design was submitted to the council with an old-style train station design and animals waving out of carriage windows, however council staff advised the applicant the new design was no more consistent with the area’s amenity.
The original design was referred back to the council, which was turned down by the development services committee on August 22.
