$3m upgrades to highway entrances
NEARLY $3 million worth of upgrades at entrances to Forrest Highway near Australind are expected to be completed by November as part of the State Government’s Black Spot Program.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray said the construction of a series of acceleration lanes, which began last month, were essential as the traffic increased with the region’s population growth.
“Without the lanes the same challenges we face at this moment regarding road safety

would only become more acute, these improvements no doubt will save lives,” he said.
About $1.19 million is being spent to construct a left turn acceleration lane out of Old Coast Road onto Forrest Highway heading northbound
A further $1.1 million is fund- ing the construction of an acceleration lane turning right out of Paris Road onto Forrest Highway heading south.
Mr Murray said it would be similar to the one turning right out of Eaton Drive onto Forrest Highway.
“This will improve traffic flow and safety for southbound traffic turning right out of Paris Road onto Forrest Highway,” he said.
Funding of $663,000 from the Department of Mines and Petroleum will also be used to construct a left turn acceleration lane out of Johnston Road onto Forrest Highway southbound.
