CHRISTMAS DINNER IS ON AGAIN
THE Harvey Seniors Christmas Dinner will return on December 1 to ring in the season and reward the region’s seniors for their years of service.
Committee member Loretta Maughan said the dinner had been a successful tradition for more than 60 years with 230 people attending on average each year.
“It’s a beautiful community event where the community comes together to run the night,” she said.
“It’s a way of thanking our seniors for all their years of contribution to the community.”
The event consists of a twocourse dinner with plenty of entertainment and live music from talent in the area.
“It’s all community-based entertainment,” she said.
“We also have raffles and spot prizes galore.”
Ms Maughan said while there were volunteers already coming forward to help on the night, the committee was still looking for more people to help them organise.
“We have plenty of people helping on the night but we are in need of more committee members,” she said.
Eligible seniors must be aged 65 or older and a permanent resident of Harvey, Yarloop, Cooker-nup, Wokalup or Myalup.
Invitation replies can be handed in at the Harvey Pharmacy or posted to PO Box 337, Harvey.
Invitations are available at the Harvey Public Library, recreation and cultural centre, senior citizen’s centre and the pharmacy.
