Entrants rewarded for skills
AS nearly 14,000 people came through the gates at the 86th Brunswick Show, more than 1000 entries were on display in competitions including cooking, crafts, gardening and artistic skill.
In the second Harvey Beef boning competition, defending champion Luke Attwell retained his title in a close final against Yu-Hung Lin.
Rob Williams won the hot and mild classes of the Italian sausage competition amidst 65 entries.
Champion rose of the show was awarded to Taz Armstrong, of Eaton, and reserve awarded to Trish Welsh.
In the vegetables section, Trevor Offer was awarded the FJ George Memorial Trophy, the Gordon Robinson voucher, the Offer Family Award and the Condarina Spring prize.
River Valley Primary School won both junior gardener trophies.
For the most points awarded in the crafting section, Lynette Rae was bestowed the Mrs E M Pearson Memorial Trophy having already won five trophies.
Adrie Noodermeer won the highest points in the cooking section.
Out on the oval in the equestrian events, the Supreme of Supreme title was awarded to miniature pony Amberville Showtime, exhibited by Catriona Roe. The champion junior hack was won by Isabella Peden on Blossom Park Royal Occasion while the champion senior hack was awarded to Nina Johnston on Taunton Vale Franklin.
Champion Australian stock horse went to Regan Weightman on Maytown Brianna Lee.
Collie’s Grant Campbell competes in the log chopping competition.
