MORE than 20 Shire of Harvey residents learnt the art of mosaics at the Yarloop Community Resource Centre last week as part of the third Bushfire Recovery Art project workshop.

On November 26 and November 2, 24 attendees were taught mosaics by Brunswick artist Sharon Reeves and they completed a work to take home.

Bushfire recovery officer Maree Ellis said the participants enjoyed the workshops.

“Everyone had a wonderful time putting together their creative masterpieces in a friendly and supportive environment,” she said. “It is anticipated that more art workshops will be held at the centre in the future.”

Participants came up with their own designs, some creating house number plaques while others made designs with sheep, flowers, dragon flies, or trees.

On Friday, November 3, sculpture workshops which will run for three sessions at the Yarloop Community Resource Centre, were also started.

Participants from each of the workshops, including the painting and textile workshops previously, have been invited to display their work at Bushfire Recovery and Regrowth Art Exhibition.

The exhibition will be held at the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre from January 6 to 14 next year.
