Firearm, fire­works charges

HAR­VEY po­lice last week fi­nalised charges re­lat­ing to a search war­rant car­ried out at a prop­erty in Uduc in Oc­to­ber.

“As a re­sult of po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions fol­low­ing the search war­rant, two men were taken into cus­tody and charged by po­lice,” Har­vey po­lice Act­ing Sgt David Her­ring­ton said.

A 26-year-old man was charged with three counts of fail­ing to en­sure safe keep­ing of firearms and one count of un­li­censed pos­ses­sion of am­muni- tion. A 51-year-old man was also charged with two counts of fail­ing to en­sure safe keep­ing of firearms and one count of pos­ses­sion of an un­law­fully mod­i­fied firearm.

A quan­tity of fire­works was dis­cov­ered dur­ing the search of the prop­erty, which are deemed to be dan­ger­ous un­der the 2004 Dan­ger­ous Goods Act.

Both men were charged with one count each of un­li­censed pos­ses­sion of dan­ger­ous goods in re­la­tion to the fire­works.
