Harvey-Waroona Reporter - - REPORTER NEWS -

PEOPLE are being urged to shop local this Christmas to support businesses around the South West.

Forrest MHR Nola Marino said small businesses were the “engine room” of the economy and would receive much-needed support if people kept their Christmas shopping local.

Her suggestion comes on the back of a call from Small Business Minister Michael McCormack to encourage people to buy local

“The holiday season is when many small businesses work their hardest and employ more locals to meet the demands of the Christmas retail trade period,” Mrs Marino said.

She said many small businesses around the South West employed more young people and those looking for casual work during the Christmas season.

“Christmas is an opportunity to help our small businesses employ more local people and keep money flowing around our economy,” she said.
