Dropped catches cost Har­vey Benger

HAR­VEY Benger Cricket Club sec­ond grade missed an op­por­tu­nity to en­ter the top four when they lost to Hay Park on Satur­day.

Hosted in Har­vey, Har­vey Benger cap­tain Scott Fowler won the toss and sent Hay Park in to bat first. They started well to be 2-83 at drinks, thanks to a cou­ple of dropped chances.

Har­vey Benger re­cov­ered in the sec­ond ses­sion tak­ing reg­u­lar wick­ets to re­strict Hay Park to 8-172 off 50 overs with Brody Raper 1-21 off 10 and Fran­cois Roelofsz 3-36 off 10.

Har­vey Benger started pos­i­tively but lost opener Haydn Jones and An­ton Fim­mano in quick suc­ces­sion. This trend con­tin­ued through the in­nings with the home side strug­gling for a match-win­ning part­ner­ship.

They were even­tu­ally dis­missed for 122 off 39 overs with Alex Ver­ral (24) and Hamish Min­ton (27) top scor­ing. Har­vey Benger’s Year 12 team con­tin­ued their stel­lar sea­son de­feat­ing Gram­mar at home. Gram­mar scored 8-148 with Aaron Jo­vanovic the pick of the bowlers with 3-16 off six overs.

In re­ply Har­vey Benger scored 8-213 with Zak Ital­iano and Jo­vanovic both re­tir­ing on 53.

In the Year 7 match at the Har­vey Pri­mary School, Leschenault War­riors 6-188 de­feated Har­vey Benger 5-117.
