Dropped catches cost Harvey Benger
HARVEY Benger Cricket Club second grade missed an opportunity to enter the top four when they lost to Hay Park on Saturday.
Hosted in Harvey, Harvey Benger captain Scott Fowler won the toss and sent Hay Park in to bat first. They started well to be 2-83 at drinks, thanks to a couple of dropped chances.
Harvey Benger recovered in the second session taking regular wickets to restrict Hay Park to 8-172 off 50 overs with Brody Raper 1-21 off 10 and Francois Roelofsz 3-36 off 10.
Harvey Benger started positively but lost opener Haydn Jones and Anton Fimmano in quick succession. This trend continued through the innings with the home side struggling for a match-winning partnership.
They were eventually dismissed for 122 off 39 overs with Alex Verral (24) and Hamish Minton (27) top scoring. Harvey Benger’s Year 12 team continued their stellar season defeating Grammar at home. Grammar scored 8-148 with Aaron Jovanovic the pick of the bowlers with 3-16 off six overs.
In reply Harvey Benger scored 8-213 with Zak Italiano and Jovanovic both retiring on 53.
In the Year 7 match at the Harvey Primary School, Leschenault Warriors 6-188 defeated Harvey Benger 5-117.
