Colts confident going into season
A DETERMINED colts side is raring to go with belief and a positive mindset after a tough season last year.
Colts coach Mark Moody takes up the helm this year in his first senior role, with a background in coaching junior football.
Moody said he put his hand up to give back to the club which he and his sons played for.
“Having two sons playing at the club this season and to be given the opportunity to hopefully give back in a small way to such a proud club surrounded by many fantastic people are amongst the many reasons,” he said.
A former Demon, Moody played senior football from 1988, and in league ranks from 1989 to 1997.
Moody said he wanted to instil belief in the players and help them maintain a positive mindset, and while it had been a tough season last year, the colts were moving forward.
“Most importantly to our colts and the club is we remain positive whatever comes our way,” he said.
There were a number of good players who made their debut in round one Moody said, with experience to build throughout the season.
“We have about a dozen players that have just played their first game in the colts last week as well as the players that have returned which is very encouraging,” he said.
“As the players play more and more football together, we remain confident that we can only be moving in the right direction.
“Having said that, we must realise it will take time.”
