COUN­TRY Vet­er­ans As­so­ci­a­tion hosted the City Vet­er­ans for the Bruce Row­ley Shield on April 9 at the Bun­bury Golf Club. The coun­try vet­er­ans won back the shield with an ag­gre­gate score of 765 points to the city’s 735 points. In­di­vid­ual scores were: Ross Han­cock, of Fre­man­tle, won on a count­back with 43 points from Paul Chad­bourne, of Don­ny­brook, with 43 points; Steve Jolly, of Sanc­tu­ary, 42 points; Bob Gar­man, of Sanc­tu­ary, 41; and Kevin Bur­ton, of Wa­roona, 41. Next on 39 were Bob John­ston, of Guilder­ton, Henty Far­rar, of Fre­man­tle, Bruce Jack­son, of Pin­jarra, Barry Bas­tow, of Capel, and Mick Glas­son, of Man­durah. With 38 points each were Phillip DeGaris, Duns­bor­ough Lakes, Peter Shine, of Har­vey, David Daw­son, of Bin­ningup, Lou Jud­kins, of Rock­ing­ham, Al­lan Kay, of Duns­bor­ough Lakes, Ron Adams, of Pin­jarra, and Laurie Richards, of Duns­bor­ough. A max­i­mum field of 80 play­ers com­peted at the nine-hole Bin­ningup course on March 28 which saw Balin­gup’s Lou Pacecca win the day on a count­back from Bridgetown’s Chris Grizich, both card­ing 40 points. Third place went to Wa­roona’s Kevin Bur­ton on 39 points from Duns­bor­ough Lakes’ Dave Jones on 38 points. Other wor­thy scores were Frank House, of Ko­jonup, Steven Ire­land, of Col­lie, Harry Vidulich, of Wa­roona, and Derek Williams, of Har­vey, who fin­ished on 37 points. Gary Scott, of Bus­sel­ton, Jeff Tay­lor, of Wa­roona, and Mal Williamson, of Duns­bor­ough, all fin­ished on 36 points.

Har­vey women

A STA­BLE­FORD com­pe­ti­tion spon­sored by Lynda Oven­den was con­tested by 20 Har­vey Golf Club women on April 12. Mag­gie O’Reilly came out on top with 35 points win­ning on a count back from Sue Bell. Pam Davey was third with 34. Davey also won the gross. Other good scores in­cluded Lynda Oven­den with 33, Judith Doyle 31 and Cathy Lo­ton, Grace Zaba­jnik and Delilah Hur­ley all on 30. Nov­el­ties were shared by Judith Doyle, Marita Hay­ward, Pam Davey and Dot Chitty. This Thurs­day is a stroke round and the first sil­ver spoon for the sea­son. Last Mon­day, eight Har­vey women teamed up to play a vet­er­ans event in Bus­sel­ton. It was a 4BBB and Bus­sel­ton ladies won with 44. Lynda Oven­den and Mau­reen Craig and Judy Wy­att and Sylvia Richards had a re­spectable 41 points.
