Strawberry offer promotes quality produce

Harvey-Waroona Reporter - - NEWS -

Spud Shed owner Tony Galati has taken a stand to support WA strawberry growers after buying a number of pallets of the produce and giving it away for free at his Australind store.

Spirit FM’s drive show was also broadcasting from the store and encouraging people to come down for a free punnet of strawberries.

Mr Galati said it was important to support WA growers and hoped the giveaway would remind people of the quality of WA produce.

“There are a lot of export dollars in strawberries as well for WA,” he said.

“So we need to get behind them and encourage them to keep on growing and to keep producing quality fruit.”

Mr Galati said he was always careful to sell strawberries grown in WA.

“All our strawberries are locally sourced and the only time we buy them from over east is when there aren’t any available in WA,” he said.

”The strawberries I purchased for today’s event came from growers in Wanneroo.”

Mr Galati said he was pleased with the response from the community.

“It is fantastic to see so many people come out and support the WA industry and supporting the market,” he said.
