Last Fri­day, the Wa­roona Tidy Towns Com­mit­tee at­tended the 2018 Keep Aus­tralia Beau­ti­ful Tidy Towns Sus­tain­able Com­mu­ni­ties Awards Cer­e­mony held at Kings Park. En­vi­ron­ment Min­is­ter Stephen Daw­son an­nounced the fi­nal­ists and win­ners, and Wa­roona was sur­prised to have been named a fi­nal­ist in the Com­mu­nity Ac­tion & Well­be­ing and Young Le­gends cat­e­gories, as well as the over­all state cat­e­gory. The win­ners were an­nounced as fol­lows: Over­all State Win­ner - Col­lie Com­mu­nity Ac­tion & Well­be­ing - Raven­sthorpe/Hopetoun En­vi­ron­men­tal Ed­u­ca­tion - Cowaramup En­vi­ron­men­tal Sus­tain­abil­ity - Esper­ance Gen­eral Ap­pear­ance - Halls Creek Her­itage & Cul­ture - Dum­b­leyung Young Le­gends - Mar­garet River The Wa­roona Tidy Towns Com­mit­tee re­turned with a range of fresh and in­no­va­tive ideas to im­ple­ment in Wa­roona with the sup­port of other com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions and busi­nesses.
