Season’s fixtures packed with action

The Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association released fixtures for the 2018-19 season on Tuesday, with reigning premiers Colts opening their campaign at home to Dalyellup Beach next Saturday.

Colts, who were impressive during last season’s grand final win over Eaton, will be led again by Cruize Ciallella.

However, it is the bevy of youngsters to the squad which is arguably their X-factor.

Club president Jaysen Miguel confirmed Jaxon Pitts and Fraser Hislop had joined the club from Collie, which will help their batting stocks.

Eaton, who will be keen to bolt out of the blocks after last year’s big season, entertain Marist at the Eaton Sports Ground, while Hay Park are at home to Leshenault at Hay Park No.1. Association president Paul Gardener feels it will be a big season of cricket, with plenty of exciting formats planned to keep both players and spectators entertained.

Plans are afoot to establish a women’s league, while the format of the longstanding Country Cup has also been tweaked.

Bunbury and Busselton, along with Albany and an Invitational XI will play in a shortened tournament prior to Christmas, with the hope of the final to be played at the WACA in Perth. Bunbury and Districts
