Make Ital­ian sausages

There’s plenty to do in Har­vey this month from the Ital­ian Sausage Sa­gra to the 100th birth­day of beloved char­ac­ters Snug­gle­pot and Cud­dlepie.

Har­vey Re­cre­ation and Cul­tural Cen­tre will host a stage show about the life of author May Gibbs, cre­ator of Snug­gle­pot and Cud­dlepie.

May Gibbs spent her for­ma­tive years at Stir­ling Cot­tage in Har­vey and the show will fea­ture mu­sic, anec­dotes and im­ages to tell her life story and cul­tural im­pact.

The show is on Satur­day, No­vem­ber 17, at 2pm, for more in­for­ma­tion call 9729 3311.

There will also be a free event on Thurs­day, No­vem­ber 12, to cel­e­brate the cen­te­nary of Snug­gle­pot and Cud­dlepie at Stir­ling Cot­tage Gar­dens.

Ac­tiv­i­ties are on from 9am to 12pm with sto­ry­telling at 9.15am and Ricky Pos­sum per­for­mances starts at 9.30.

Har­vey Com­mu­nity Ra­dio and Har­vey Re­cre­ation and Cul­tural Cen­tre are work­ing to­gether to show­case the town’s Ital­ian cul­ture and his­tory with an Ital­ian sausage fes­ti­val.

The Har­vey Ital­ian Sausage Sa­gra will fea­ture celebrity butcher Vince Gar­reffa as a judge in the sausage com­pe­ti­tion and live mu­sic from Tony Ban­dera and Michael Bar­baro.

There will also be demon­stra­tions on mak­ing the per­fect Ital­ian sausage and mak­ing fresh, au­then­tic pasta.

In ad­di­tion to the var­i­ous Ital­ian en­ter­tain­ment acts, there will also be a his­tor­i­cal tour of the World War II Ital­ian In­tern­ment Camp and Jail.
