Healthy Food Guide (Australia) - - CONTENTS - Brooke Longfield, Editor

A word from our editor, plus prizes to WIN!

Ever wondered what a team of dietitians and foodies eat for lunch at work every day? Well, sorry to disappoint, but most days it’s leafy salads with an array of tasty toppings, from toasted nuts and roasted veg to marinated feta (my favourite). However, I’ll admit that our team is the first to run to the kitchen when cake is on offer … it’s all about balance, right?

One thing we do find tricky is sitting at a desk all day. Around 80 per cent of Aussie workers have to do some sitting at work, so we’re not alone. For this reason, we take regular stand-and-stretch breaks, and it’s not uncommon to find one of us running up and down the stairwell to get the oxygen pumping! Turn to page 38 to find out clever ways you can instil healthy habits in your workplace.

This month we also look at the latest science behind intermittent fasting. It’s a controversial topic, with new research being released all the time. Can it work for you? Turn to page 20 to find out.

In most issues of HFG we talk about the health benefits of eating more vegetables, and this month, we show you just how easy it is to squeeze five serves of vegies into one great meal (p50). Don’t miss our tempting toast topper ideas on page 54, and if you cook only one thing this month, make it our sticky date puddings (p76).

Enjoy the issue!
