CHINA CHARGES ON

In China, an­a­lysts think elec­tric ve­hi­cles will take sev­eral years to be fi­nan­cially vi­able. Sales are up 82 per cent though gains have been driven pri­mar­ily by gen­er­ous gov­ern­ment sub­si­dies. EV buy­ers can get a sub­sidy equat­ing to more than $10,000 while plug-in hy­brid buy­ers get al­most $6000.

MEM­ORY LANE

Hot on the heels of Jaguar’s clas­sic re­build suc­cess, Aston Martin plans to re­con­struct the DB4 GT. Jaguar sold nine ex­am­ples of the 1957 XKSS sports car at $2 mil­lion each and Aston aims to em­u­late that by sell­ing 25 track-only DB4s for $2.5 mil­lion each. They will have few mod-cons to main­tain his­tor­i­cal faith.

VIDEO CARD CAR

Tech­nol­ogy gi­ant Nvidia has gained per­mis­sion to test self-driv­ing ve­hi­cles on Cal­i­for­nia roads. Best known for its com­puter graph­ics cards, Nvidia is in part­ner­ship with Chi­nese web gi­ant Baidu to fur­ther de­velop semi­au­tonomous ve­hi­cles.
