After a growling punkdubstep debut, South London’s King Krule (Archy Marshall) focused on lowkey side projects and collabs (reportedly Frank Ocean). The OOZ has zero pop concessions — not even the nightbusy single Czech One. But it is jazzier — like a discordant, grungy and beat-riddled take on Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew. Marshall sings of depression, romantic angst and urban malaise. His abjection blues is unique, if niche. Still, awkward genius is the stuff of cults. /CW
