Netflix recently signed Jerry Seinfeld to a $140 million deal, primarily to be the new home for his hit interview series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee (new episodes of which will be released by year’s end). To gain some quick traction with Netflix’s massive global audience, the popular funnyman has whipped up an engaging concert-doco where he revisits and performs the first incarnation of his stand-up act. Though many of the jokes are almost 40 years old, they hold up remarkably well. Not just because Seinfeld’s microobservational humour was never all that time-sensitive. No, what we learn here is that Seinfeld still boasts the best delivery style of any veteran comedian still on active duty.
