Wilson (Woody Harrelson) lives proudly on the fringes of modern life, an oldschool curmudgeon who can’t believe people can be so dumb as to be glued to their smartphones 24/7. Though he often means well, Wilson’s default conversational setting is no filter, no apologies. The world’s default response is to run for the nearest door. The filmmakers have misjudged just how funny this freethinking, freakedout fellow can be for more than a few minutes at a time. To his credit, Harrelson almost gets you thinking otherwise on the odd occasion. Based on the graphic novel by Daniel Clowes (Ghost World).
