ATTEND MARK LANEGAN

Herald Sun - Hit - - THE HIT LIST -

The human voice is the most incredible instrument of all. No two are truly alike. We kidded ourselves Michael Jackson sang Lisa It’s Your Birthday on The Simpsons but we all knew deep down it wasn’t MJ (confirmed by creator Matt Groening many years back) because the timbre was just a little cheesy. Former Screaming Trees’ frontman and irrepressible solo artist Mark Lanegan sings as if he’s being led to the guillotine, a gravelly mix between Bryan Adams and Alice In Chains’ Layne Staley. He’s given his all to collaborations with Moby, UNKLE, Warpaint, Massive Attack and Queens Of the Stone Age and knocked out 15 solo albums; all dark night of the soul. The Croxton, 607 High St, Thornbury. Sat, 8pm. $69.90. oztix.com.au
