Herald Sun - Hit - - THE HIT LIST - with MIKEY CAHILL

Jim Carrey has had a rough trot. Two years ago his exgirlfriend Cathriona White committed suicide. She’d been in phone contact with Carrey on the night she took her life in her Los Angeles home, leaving a note, which pleaded with him: “Please forgive me, I’m not for this world.” He was already a hermit of sorts, leaving the industry to spend years painting. His comeback role in Kidding is the choice of a true artist: way out of his comfort zone. Kidding is a tragicomedy that deals with depression and family death as the less-rubber-faced-than-usual Carrey plays Jeff, beloved by generations as Mr Pickles, a children’s TV host. He’s a beacon of kindness and wisdom, using sock puppets to tell greater truths.ding
