Balestre dies

FOR­MER FIA pres­i­dent Jean-Marie Balestre died last week aged 86. The French­man was the head of mo­tor rac­ing’s gov­ern­ing body, FIA, from 1986 to 1993, when he was ousted by Max Mosley. He will be re­mem­bered for his bit­ter bat­tles with Ayr­ton Senna in the late 1980s and early ’90s.
