Big weekend for Enduro rough riders

Herald Sun - Motoring - - Big Wheels -

SOME of the world’s best off-road motorcycle riders will take on Australia’s best this weekend in the Hog’s Breath Four-Day Enduro.

The race is held across four days and began on Thursday. But there will still be plenty of weekend action as riders cover more than 1000km and spend more than 30 hours on the motorcycles, tackling a course of rough terrain.

Riders not only have to ride by themselves, they also have to service their own bikes. But that hasn’t stopped more than 350 riders signing up for the challenge. Among the entries is five-times MX world champion Joel Smets, who will ride his factory-backed BMW.

Polish enduro specialist Bartosz Oblucki and Italian Antoine Meo are other high-profile imports. Aussie expat Jake Stapleton will try to uphold local honour.
