LIKE Mazda, Volkswagen is trying to keep its Golf hatchback fresh in the busy marketplace.

Unlike Mazda, VW is offering two special- edition models, Edition and Pacific (middle).

The Edition is available on the 1.6-litre petrol and the 1.9-litre diesel Trendline models. Both have 15-inch alloy wheels and body colour bumper inserts.

Inside, the car has a multifunction trip computer, multifunction leather steering wheel, leather gear shift and handbrake and height and lumbar adjustment on the front seats.

The Pacific is available on the Comfortline 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel. It gets 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured details and front fog lamps. Dualzone climate control and sports seats are the interior upgrades.

The Edition starts at $25,490 for the 1.6 and $27,990 for the 1.9 TDI. The Pacific starts at $29,990 for the 2.0 petrol and $32,490 for the 2.0 TDI.
