QI’DLIKE to tell you about my ex­pe­ri­ence con­vert­ing my D22 Nis­san Navara V6 to gas with a Tar­tarini gas-in­jec­tion sys­tem. I couldn’t be hap­pier. It used to cost about $18 for 100km on petrol and now it costs me less than $8 for 100km on gas. The sys­tem is so good I have not no­ticed any power or torque de­crease, so my ad­vice to any­one with a diesel Navara is trade it in and get a new D40 petrol Navara. You save about $10,000 on the pur­chase price (com­pared with diesel). Then con­vert it to gas for about $2000 af­ter the gov­ern­ment re­bate and start reap­ing the re­wards. Gas is bet­ter for the en­vi­ron­ment, a cleaner fuel to han­dle, has car-like per­for­mance and huge tow­ing abil­ity and is a lot bet­ter on the hip pocket. Joe Restall

email gas is an at­trac­tive op­tion and the num­bers now favour LPG over diesel. Repco re­cently opted to go that path with Mit­subishi Tri­tons and reckon the petrol en­gine run­ning on LPG is cheaper than go­ing with the diesel al­ter­na­tive.
