We’d be lost without Hugh and Cate

Herald Sun - Motoring - - Paul Gover -

IT’S good to see that motoring is not just about doom-and-gloom sales results. Things are tough at the moment but there is always time for a giggle, even if it’s just at the latest motor show dream machines to be unveiled in Paris in a couple of weeks.

UBD also gave us a chuckle this week with some background on the latest edition of its Melbourne street directory, starting with the news Victoria’s heartland has grown twice as fast as Sydney in the past five years. We’ve also learned there are 900 new streets and two new suburbs, South Wharf and Williams Landing.

But UBD knows driving has its hazards and so asked people who they would most like to be sitting alongside if they were lost.

The winners? No prizes for guessing Hugh Jackman and Cate Blanchett. And which is the better sex for navigation duties? Even though men prefer to drive, the survey says men, by a 57-43 per cent margin.

As for the best music driving without a new UBD — shorthand for lost — the top choices were You Drive Me Crazy by Britney Spears, Road to Nowhere by Talking Heads and the evergreen On the Road Again by Willie Nelson.
