One show the go
As local truckmakers try to cut the number of shows to one a year, their European counterparts are seeking to do likewise. Scania chief executive Leif Oestling spoke recently at the Hanover Truck Show of his desire for just one show— Hanover. ‘‘It’s a waste of money to have more,’’ he says. ‘‘The ambition of the industry is to have one show and Hanover is the show. You don’t sell so much at the shows, but it still absorbs a lot of your sales capacity. Your people are here for a fortnight, and they need to rest when the show is over.’’ They’re sentiments local truckmakers share.
