THE truck market remains depressed, but is showing signs of a recovery, according to data released by ERG and the Truck Industry Council. The May figures show the heavy-duty segment has been hardest hit, with sales down almost 35 per cent compared to the same month last year. Light-duty also has been hit hard, with sales down nearly 30 per cent, while medium-duty truck sales are down just under 20 per cent. Isuzu holds on to top spot for the first five months of the year, having sold 2611 trucks for a market share of 25.6 per cent, comfortably leading Hino and Fuso. Isuzu also heads the charts in light-duty and medium-duty with 39.8 per cent and 41.6 per cent respectively, while Kenworth heads the heavyweights with 19.1 per cent. Volvo and Isuzu follow, with Freightliner making ground in fourth.
