Don’t get heavy about it

The Australian Transport Association has urged all parties to not get bogged down in deciding where the proposed national heavy-vehicle regulator will be based. NSW, Victoria and Queensland have expressed interest, but transport ministers have referred the decision to COAG. ‘‘The Federal Infrastructure Minister, Anthony Albanese, showed determination and vision in pushing the concept of the national heavy vehicle regulator and regulations,’’ ATA boss Trevor Martyn says. ‘‘Now COAG needs to show the same level of vision, and make a fast decision about the regulator’s host state.’’
