Another MAN gone
MAN trucks chief executive officer Hakan Samuelsson has unexpectedly resigned. Samuelsson did not comment on his surprise departure. In a statement, the company said Samuelsson hoped his decision would help the MAN Group to quickly devote all of its attention to its core business and its further development. He said he was convinced there should be a fresh start at the highest level of the company. Analysts say the move makes it more likely Volkswagen will succeed with its plans to increase its share in MAN trucks from about 30 per cent to more than 50 per cent. VW is reported to be keen to roll MAN into a new commercial arm along with Scania, of which it owns 70 per cent, by 2011.
