Fuso tightens its belt
MITSUBISHI Fuso is aiming to streamline its business to better cope with lean years. The Japanese-based company, which is owned by Daimler Trucks, is tipped to sell about 100,000 trucks this year, roughly half of last year’s sales. The company, which is expected to post a loss this year, is about to be restructured to improve profitability. Fuso chief executive Albert Kirchmann told reporters in Germany last week Fuso’s forward plan would be based on annual production of 150,000 and the company would have to be prepared for a longer downturn.
