Nis­san rules Bri­tan­nia

NIS­SAN has just stretched its run as Bri­tain’s big­gest car­maker to 12 con­sec­u­tive years. Pro­duc­tion at the Ja­panese com­pany’s ‘‘trans­plant’’ fac­tory at Sun­der­land, on the east coast, hit 338,150 last year, more than a third of to­tal Bri­tish pro­duc­tion of 999,460. Ve­hi­cles are shipped to 45 coun­tries.
