School’s a drag
CALDER Park is doing a good job getting young drivers off the streets and to their fortnightly public offstreet drag races.
But they’ve also identified that many of these young drivers have little understanding of the sport.
That’s why Calder Park has introduced a ‘‘drag school’’ to give new competitors an understanding of how to set a swift and safe quarter-mile pass.
Longtime drag racer George Haddad is running the classes, with help from Calder Park officials.
The first school starts tomorrow at 11am, two hours before the public drags open.
Students will be able to have a lesson and then use their new skills on the drag track. In the Rubicon Valley near Eildon. Hosted by Alexandra and District Motorcycle Club with support from the DSE and Parks Victoria. All motorcycles must have full or recreational registration. Noisy bikes tested. All riders must be licensed. The course is two 70km loops. More than $7000 in prizes on offer.
