Salt racer adds spice to Win­ton races

AMIL­LION­DOL­LAR rac­ing 935 sports coupe (right) that helped Porsche win the 1976 World Cham­pi­onship of Makes and a spec­tac­u­lar Lake Eyre salt racer (be­low right) will make strange track-fel­lows when they take to the long cir­cuit for demon­stra­tion laps dur­ing this week­end’s Win­ton Fes­ti­val of Speed near Be­nalla.

Or­gan­ised by the Vic­to­rian His­toric Rac­ing Reg­is­ter and sup­ported by Shan­nons, the meet­ing has at­tracted more than 240 sports, GT, tour­ing and mus­cle cars built up to the late 1980s for 13 races and timed sprints over the week­end.
