A PAIR of wicked concept cars nicknamed Jaffa and Blackbird will star for Mercedes-Benz at the first Australian International Motor Show in October.

Benz led a show boycott in Australia, but with the Sydney and Melbourne events now combined under a single national banner, it’s planning a big splash in October.

Benz spokesman David McCarthy says: ‘‘Both cars are being built specifically for the Australian motor show. These cars demonstrate our commitment to one annual motor show in Australia.

‘‘We made a decision that we would not attend motor shows in Australia until there was one show a year. That’s been resolved . . . so we are showing our strong support.’’
