Recall for HiLuxes

AUSTRALIA has finally been hit by a major Toyota recall.

After dodging most of the fallout from the eight million-plus vehicles recalled in the US and Europe, Toyota Australia has recalled 116,000 HiLux utes. It’s a major hit for our favourite workhorse, which topped sales charts for a couple of months in recent years.

The recall is triggered by a faulty bracket supporting the tailshaft centre bracket.

Only 19 cases were reported, but the problem means the tailshaft could detach from the vehicle.

Vehicles involved are four-wheeldrive, dual-cab models built between January 29, 2005 and February 20, 2010 at the Toyota commercial vehicle factory in Thailand.
