Hyundai has willingways
THE best Will in the Hyundai world is coming to Sydney. It’s the Blue-Will hybrid concept that is heading for the Australian International Motor Show next month.
It was first seen at the Detroit Motor Show at the start of the year and is the Korean brand’s first plug-in hybrid car.
Hyundai says Blue-Will’s fuel economy is only 2.35 litres/100km and the car is working as a test bed for new ideas, including roof-mounted solar cells, drive-by-wire steering, lithium polymer batteries and touch-screen controls. Its electric driving range is 65km.
The car even has a built-in ‘‘eco coach’’ computer program to get the best from the combination of a 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol engine, a continuously variable transmission and a 100kW electric motor.
