Fuel savings claim

Herald Sun - Motoring - - Big Wheels -

MAN has presented a truck design at the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover that could reduce fuel consumption. The German brand says its Concept S design study (below) could slash emissions by 25 per cent, which would also mean lower fuel bills. MAN says the streamlined design of its prime mover ‘‘differs radically from today’s typically cube-shaped trucks’’. MAN says the problem with the Concept S is it is longer than existing prime-movers and that would mean less room for freight in countries that have strict length restrictions. It says that such rules would need to be altered if aerodynamic truck designs are to be introduced.
