AN ENGINE failure ended the season of threetime Speedway Grand Prix world champion Jason Crump. In his worst result of the year, he scored only seven points in the Italian speedway GP at the weekend. Tomasz Gollob, 39, became Poland’s first world champion since Jerzy Szczakiel in 1973. Crump confirmed he will contest the final event in Poland on October 9 and will have surgery to repair nerve damage to his left arm the next week. He has been as high as third in the series, but has slipped to ninth.
