Fiesta time winds down

Herald Sun - Motoring - - On Road -

THE three-door Fiesta is about to disappear from the Ford Australia catalogue.

It’s a casualty of the switch to Thailand production for the updated WT Fiesta range.

Mazda has also lost its three-door starter car and, in both cases, it’s because the Thai factory produces five-door sedans which are more popular in Asia.

The price of the WT Fiesta also rises $900, to $16,990, with the sedan replacement of the hatch.

But Ford says it is happy with the new baby and is not worried about losing the basic hatch.

‘‘The five-door sedan is more popular with our customers,’’ Ford spokesman Peter Fadeyev says.
