A 1936 Cord 810 will be a highlight among 200 rare, beautiful and exotic classic vehicles that will grace Melbourne later this month. The Motorclassica will be at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens from October 22-24 and will boast some fo the finest luxury and sporting vehicles from around the world. The event will include the inaugural Australian International Concours d’Elegance, with the cars in line for trophies and more importantly, bragging rights, among the devoted collectors of automotive exotica. The entry list has been assembled from collections in Australia and overseas and the only common theme will be their rarity and the quality of the restoration or preservation of each vehicle. There will also be vehicles boasting a historic or celebrity provenance, including cars once owned by Peter Sellars, Steve McQueen, Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren, Stirling Moss, aviator Amelia Earhart and more. The Cord shown below runs a supercharged 4.7-litre engine, with power transmitted to the front wheels via an electric four-speed preselector gearbox. The model was built from 1936-1937, with later examples known as the Cord 812. Only 3000 were made. To find out more, go to www.motorclassica.com.au
