Truck freeway ban

Herald Sun - Motoring - - Big Wheels -

Trucks have been excluded from another section of Victoria’s freeway system. The Government introduced legislation banning trucks of more than 4.5-tonnes from the right hand lane of the Eastern Freeway as of October 19. The move is announced in 46 signs along the 16km freeway from Springvale Rd to Hoddle St. ‘‘This Government understands the community’s concerns about road sharing and is introducing lane restrictions for trucks to help create a safer and more efficient driving environment,’’ Victoria’s roads and ports minister Tim Pallas says. ‘‘The new rules apply 24-hours-a-day and truck drivers caught using the restricted lane will be subject to a penalty of up to $358.’’
